Creeks of UC Berkeley was created in 2017 in response to watershed and stormwater regulations and the need to update the Strawberry Creeks web site managed by the Office of Environment, Health & Safety.
This website won the Campus Safety, Health, and Environmental Management Association (CSHEMA) Marketing Campaign of Merit award in 2018.
Branding
Creeks of UC Berkeley incorporated content for watersheds owned by UC Berkeley, not just the well-known Strawberry Creek that runs through the central campus. The branding features a gradient watercolor background with negative space a three-spined stickleback, as a nod to the original Strawberry Creek website and a fish species reintroduced to the creek after extensive clean-up.
Web Design
My role with the website was 1) develop the wireframe for this new website to provide to our web developer and 2) edit and update content migrating from the Strawberry Creek website and new content for the other watersheds and new sections we created.
As of 2019, Creeks of UC Berkeley (creeks.berkeley.edu) was migrated to the campus Open Source platform in an effort to streamline the content management of the site amid staffing changes.
